Curing Times
Terrazzo is
essentially a concrete product albeit using marble and/or other
aggregates and requires the same process and conditions afforded to
concrete made from regular fine and course aggregates in order to
achieve a good finish.
Concrete
products require a minimum of 7 (seven) days to achieve its initial
hardness and a total of 28 (twenty eight) days to achieve maximum
hardness, and at Kengate we strive to cure the product under
controlled conditions in order to avoid the product shrinking,
particularly post-grinding/polishing.
This
un-controlled shrinkage takes the form of fine hairline cracking on
the surface of the product. This does not affect the structure or
the performance of the product but may detract from the appearance
depending on the colour and composition of the aggregate mix.
Customers should
allow a minimum of 28 days from manufacture to installation on site
in order to minimise and reduce any post installation shrinkage. We
recommend that orders should be placed following consultation with
the Works Manager/Director.
Whilst we are
able to produce terrazzo tiles and pre-cast products at short
notice, this does not address the potential for the product to
shrink and produce hairline cracking as the curing process will not
be completed.
Customers who
insist on delivery of an order at short notice therefore do so at
their own risk and any warranty or guarantee from Kengate will be
void in this instance.
This does not
affect any other statutory rights that may exist in the purchase of
this product.
